Headlight issues: Many people have reported that the headlights of the earlier model years of the Odyssey have uneven lighting, which might be inadequate for highway use. ![]() One complainant also reported that the anchor point to his/her seat belt became loose and would have snapped in case of a crash. Seat belts: The seat belts in the early model years of the Odyssey were reported to be pretty troublesome because the latch on the seat belts would not unlatch and cause the occupant to be stuck in the seat.Soy-based harness coating: Although a collection of isolated incidents, many manufacturers (including Honda) use a soy-based coating to coat the wiring harness of their vehicle which results in rodents chewing the coating off and causing electrical issues.This issue also hinders the functioning of the smartphone integration systems, radio, Bluetooth, and ENT system. The sound is such that it freezes the controls of the infotainment system as well as the media functions on the van, making them completely dead. Audio issues: Many owners have reported a crackling sound coming from the van’s speakers that becomes more persistent as the van ages.This issue causes a lot of distraction to the driver and also poses a danger while driving on the highway. Flickering displays: The instrument panel and the infotainment system on the Odyssey had been reported to flicker and go black for nearly 10 seconds, that too randomly without any inputs from the driver. ![]() Complainants claim that no apparent impact had been made to the camera before the error popped up. The screen only showed a blank screen with a “Camera System Failure” message on the screen.
